Donald Trump: Mitt Romney’s speech is irrelevant
After ten minutes or so of the usual small talk, the GOP frontrunner finally turned his attention to the 2012 GOP nominee.

Claiming that there is a “bombshell” to hide in the Trump’s tax returns, which he has not released it so far, Romney said Trump’s nomination would only help Hillary Clinton become the next president of the United States.
“He’s playing the members of the American public for suckers”. “People are energized by what I’m saying” in the campaign and turning out in remarkable numbers to vote, Trump told NBC’s “Today”. “I was so disappointed in him because he let us down”. “The way we see out role in this campaign through our agenda project is to add a heel and a rudder on this ship of the Republican party and give it direction so we can take the American people a real choice”.
While many Republican insiders are eager to rally around a non-Trump candidate, there’s no indication voters are consolidating around an alternative.
Mr Trump has meanwhile mocked Mr Romney on Twitter as a “failed candidate” who should not advise on electability.
In this March 1, 2016, photo, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks on Super Tuesday primary election night at the White and Gold Ballroom at The Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla.
“There are some things that you just can’t imagine happening in your life – this is one of them”, said a bright and beaming Romney, in a display so obsequious to Trump that it would make Chris Christie shake his head.
The speaker has already admonished Trump for failing to disavow support from Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.
Trump slammed Romney for not mentioning Trump’s successes in business and defended Trump University, a topic that Romney had attacked in his speech delivered earlier in the day.
Some social media users, however, noted that Romney had accepted an endorsement from Trump during his failed 2012 presidential campaign and argued this undermined Romney’s critique.
“But a Trump nomination enables her victory”.
Trump rival Marco Rubio indicated in his speech on Tuesday that the Republican establishment was unlikely to back the former reality TV star. “And his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill”.
Scott Brown defended Trump in a Boston Herald Radio interview, calling the former MA governor’s comments “inappropriate”.
Romney “chicken[ed] out” of the 2016 race because he was “afraid of me” and would have been beaten badly, Trump said. Among Trump’s other ideas, Romney hit his plans to impose tariffs on goods made overseas by US companies that are then imported into the U.S.

In a possible preview of his speech, Romney last week took to Fox News to acknowledge “the anger and frustration that people and the country feel about the lack of progress” in the nation’s capital.
