Donald Trump on taking care of veterans: RNC acceptance speech
“My message is that things have to change – and they have to change right now”. Trump should try to combine the discipline of the set speeches with sharp lines that can inspire the crowd – no easy task for a still-novice politician.

“Now I think you misunderstood one paragraph”.
“Beginning on January 20, of 2017, safety will be restored”.
The fiercely loyal Trump clan bristled at Quicken Loans Arena as Cruz appeared to launch his 2020 presidential bid during his 21-minute speech.
“Our convention occurs at a moment of crisis for our nation”.
“The attacks on our police and the terrorists of our cities threaten our very way of life”.
Ivanka Trump did her best to counter those impressions on the final night of the convention.
The conservative senator from Texas refused to say whether he would vote for Trump, who had maligned Cruz’s wife for her physical appearance and had suggested that his father was linked to late President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. “This woman I’ve been saying for some time is the greatest asset Donald trump has”. The Republican angst was a natural outgrowth of prominent party figures spending the past year raising expectations that she’d go to prison.
Below are the nine most unforgettable moments of the convention.
Trump pledged as President to protect LGBT Americans, referencing last month’s attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando.
Monday night’s highly anticipated speech by would-be first lady Melania Trump got rave reviews-until it was revealed shortly afterward that several passages were lifted, virtually word for word, from Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech at the Democratic National Convention.
The GOP presidential nominee paused for almost a minute while waiting for police to remove her.
He tried hard Thursday night, declaring himself “the law and order candidate”.
“People don’t feel safe in their neighborhoods”.
“I think it was just silly”.
The subject of their ire is Hillary Clinton.
Other speakers include Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, venture capitalist Peter Thiel, motivational speaker Brock Mealer, Trump’s daughter Ivanka and Colony Capital CEO Tom Barrack. If there’s no convention bounce now, she said, Republicans could be left in the dust when Democrats hold theirs next week.
Trump’s speech diagnosed a struggling nation and lash out at political correctness, corporate spin, “carefully crafted lies” and media myths.
Trump said his proposal to build a wall along the U.S.
If the state of the nation is bad, Mr Trump argued, it’s because those now in office – the establishment he has rocketed to power condemning – has made it that way. ISIS is marching across the Middle East, Libya is in ruins, Iran is on the path to nuclear weapons, and Iraq is a mess, he said.
Tapping into popular angst over recent racially-tinged shootings and seemingly indiscriminate terror attacks, Trump offered a tough on crime message that was reminiscent of Richard Nixon’s election-winning strategy in 1968.
“My father values talent; he recognizes real knowledge and skills”, she said.
“This is the legacy of Hillary Clinton: death, destruction and weakness“, he said. It was like this movement of boos that started in the crowd.
In response to the complaint, members of Trump’s camp maintained that McIver was a volunteer, and was therefore not paid for her services. “Lets defeat her!” he said, drawing huge cheers.
“The New York people began raising their voices”.
Only a change in leadership will fix the mess at home and overseas, he said.
“This, in turn, will create millions of jobs”, Trump said. One of them is based in her state, remember.
In the days leading up to Trump’s speech, the most frequent rallying cry in Cleveland had been chants of “lock her up!” directed at Clinton.
He would roll back federal regulations that he said cost the country $2 trillion a year, providing new wealth that will allow an upsurge in spending to fix roads, bridges, airports and tunnels. “I was just really impressed learning about the Trump family”. The GOP in the past has supported free trade agreements.
He promises to lower taxes, cut regulation and give parents more choice in selecting children’s schools. He added that he would wait and see how Trump behaves between now and November.
But that’s a tough sell when the first thing Trump said he is going to do is “liberate” citizens from violence without uttering one word about the young black men who have been killed unjustly by police.
The informal convention did still take place, although more subdued.

“What I’m reading here is very substantial, very well written, very pointed, very crisp”, Bronwyn Jameson said.
