Trump leads Clinton by a 44-39 percent margin according to the latest CNN/ORC survey.

CNN/ORC said after the Cleveland Convention, Trump has received major jump in support from independents.

Contrasting their foreign policy visions, Clinton said “one thing for certain you will not ever hear from me is praise for dictators and strongmen who have no love for America”.

The pair are also tied if Johnson and Stein are included in the polling.

Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson got 9% in the poll while Green Party nominee Jill Stein got 3%. For instance, Trump leads white voters without a college degree, 62 percent to 23 percent.

New Hampshire-the newest poll, released after the convention, shows Trump with a almost 10-point lead, a stunning reversal of the numbers from just one month ago.

While avoiding any direct mention of Trump’s name, Clinton slammed many of his recent statements about the military and global affairs, vowing to stand by longtime allies, fight repressive regimes and carefully weigh the advice of military officials.

This also appears to be the first time ever that Clinton’s image measures worse than Trump’s.

As for Clinton, her backing has grown since just over a week ago. Trump has a real chance at becoming president, and although Clinton is still favored, she’s already had a bumpy ride.

Despite the positives from the convention, there were still negative results as well.

The public rendered a split decision on whether the convention made them more or less likely to back Trump, 42 per cent said more likely while 44 per cent said less so, but the shift in voter preferences suggests the “more likely” side carried more weight.

The CNN poll, in fact, shows 45 per cent of those who voted in Democratic primaries still say they wish it was Sanders. Another 20 per cent think they need more information. The attention is turning to the other side, and within a few days it could be Clinton’s turn to get a convention bump in the polls.
