Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, resigns following team shake-up

According to CNN, a Trump source says that Manafort told Trump that his own ties to Russian Federation were becoming a distraction from the campaign itself, and so he submitted his resignation.

Paul Manafort resigned Friday morning from his position as Donald Trump’s campaign chairman.

“Now you look at Kellyanne and the other people we’re bringing in and they’re absolutely fantastic and I think they’re going to be the ones that bring us all the way through November 8th and ultimately get us the victory”, Eric Trump said. “I wish him the greatest success”, Trump said.

Manafort told Trump he was becoming a distraction and he wanted to end that, a Trump source was quoted as saying by CNN. Kalyuzhny, a former chairman of Ukraine’s parliamentary global relations committee, was a board member of a non-governmental organization in Brussels that hired a Washington lobbying firm to promote ideas favorable to Yanukovych’s party, the New York Times reported.

The former party member, Vitaly A. Kalyuzhny, for a time chairman of the Ukraine Parliament’s International Relations Committee, had signed nine times for receipt of payments designated for the Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, according to Serhiy A. Leshchenko, a member of Parliament who has studied the documents.

Trump’s three children play influential roles in his campaign.

Manafort has only been on the job for two months after Trump fired former manager Corey Lewandowski in June.

Had Manafort stayed with the campaign, his ethics and business dealings would become major campaign issues and make it harder for Trump and his team to focus on Clinton’s vulnerabilities concerning donations to the Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative and her use of private e-mail servers while Secretary of State.

Manafort has denied any wrongdoing.

Manafort was an adviser for the Ukrainian presidential campaign of Viktor Yanukovych and his pro-Russian Party of Regions from 2004 until 2010. Russian officials have rejected that accusation.

The most damaging for Trump was his attack on a Gold Star family — who lost their son, Army Captain Humayun Khan, while he served in Iraq – for speaking out against him at the Democratic National Convention. “I have done that and, believe it or not, I regret it”, he said.

Although the hiring of Bannon was taken as a signal that Trump would not hold back in his aggressive, unorthodox campaign manner, Trump offered rare words of regret on Thursday for causing offense with his take-no-prisoners style.

A spokesman for Kushner declined to comment.
