Third-party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, who are hoping to take advantage of Trump’s and Clinton’s favorability weakness, don’t break double digits in this poll.
Johnson, a former Republican governor of New Mexico, receives more than 15 percent support in 15 states, including ME and Rhode Island.
“What I did learn is that our leadership, (President) Barack Obama, did not follow what our experts. said to do”, he said.
The day before in swing state Ohio, Trump softened his stance on immigration while Clinton blasted Russian Federation for suspected tampering in the USA electoral process.
The majority of both Clinton (60%) and Trump (54%) supporters said they are actually voting in favor of a candidate opposed to against their opponent.
But Lauer took heat from political journalists for not challenging Trump when he claimed that he opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning, something that reporters have repeatedly pointed out conflicts with interviews that Trump gave at the time in which he expressed support.
The survey found that Trump leads Clinton 41 percent to 37 percent among likely OH voters. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.
The latest Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll of “likely voters” in all 50 states had the race as a statistical tie, registering an eight point swing against Clinton in the last week.
The project, which combines opinion polls with an analysis of voting patterns under different election scenarios, still shows Clinton would have the best chance of winning the presidency if the November 8 election were held today.
Clinton continues to do well in the Northeast and West but Trump remains competitive with her in the Midwest and South. Movement in MI would be a shocker, though; the RCP average has Hillary up over seven points, and Trump hasn’t led in any poll there since August 2015.
“They know they can count on me to be the kind of commander in chief who will protect our country and our troops, and they know they cannot count on Donald Trump”, Clinton said en route to Florida.
The survey was released by Quinnipiac University on Thursday afternoon as part of polling done in four battleground states – Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The new Quinnipiac poll was conducted by phone between August 29 and September 7 among 775 registered OH voters. The margin of error is 3.6 percent in Florida, 3.6 in North Carolina, 3.5 percent in OH and 3.5 percent in Pennsylvania.
