Donald Trump’s wife plagiarises Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech
Clinton was a key figure for the convention – one who is disdained by elements of the Republican Party that are at odds over Trump, and therefore perhaps the best hope for GOP unity as the week and the campaign progress. “Yes, Donald thinks big, which is especially important when considering the presidency of the United States”. Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, said to cheers on the opening night of the Republican National Convention.

“You know, there was certainly a collaboration – certainly there’s no feeling on her part that she did it, you know”.
Two passages – each 30 words or longer – matched a 2008 Democratic convention address by Michelle Obama almost word-for-word.
After recognizing how similar the speeches are, the Internet has totally blown up with people bashing Melania Trump, 46, for plagiarizing the current First Lady, but the Trump campaign has denied the accusations. The campaign said the speech was written by a “team of writers” who included fragments that reflected Mrs. Trump’s thinking.
White House officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment late Monday evening. “She cares about her family”, Manafort said.
Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump introduces his wife Melania to speak. She changed her name to Melania Knauss and settled in NY in 1996. Under President Barack Obama, the jobless rate has fallen from close to 10 percent at the height of the recession to under 5 percent.
Some delegates left the convention floor after the convention’s presiding officer, Arkansas Rep. Steve Womack, shut down the opponents by saying the rules had been approved by a voice vote.
The alphabetical roll call vote began with Alabama.
The dissidents collected signatures from delegates in at least nine states on petitions calling for the state-by-state roll call.
Uniting the crowd was scorn for Clinton. It talked about her coming to America.
Delegates who don’t favor Trump made a last-ditch effort to put a stop to his nomination.
Manafort, in remarks to reporters at a Bloomberg breakfast, called Kasich “petulant” and said the governor was “embarrassing” his party in his home state.
Even as she largely avoided the spotlight prior to Monday, Mrs. Trump briefly became an issue in the race in March, when an anti-Trump super PAC released an ad with a risque photo of her from a GQ magazine photo shoot, showing her handcuffed to a briefcase, lying on a fur blanket.
Conventions are massive organizational undertakings, with thousands of delegates to manage and dozens of speakers to oversee. But numerous party’s past and future stars are glaringly missing from the lineup, underscoring the concerns GOP leaders have with closely aligning themselves with Trump.
Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams described the few occasions where police on bicycles needed to disrupt protesters on Monday as “nothing that out of hand”.
About a dozen Trump backers showed up with handguns strapped to their belts as allowed under OH law. The day before the convention opened, three officers were killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where weeks earlier the fatal police shooting of a black man had sparked a national outcry. The Republicans are now working to unite the party behind that candidate and to unify the party platform. It reaffirms the party’s opposition to gay marriage and bathroom choice for transgender people.
“My husband is ready to lead this great nation!” Vice presidential pick Mike Pence, the IN governor who left Indianapolis for Cleveland on Monday, is to speak Wednesday.
Tuesday’s theme at the RNC, Make America Work Again, has the potential to appeal to some voters who are still on the fence.

After a chaotic start, Donald Trump is under pressure to steady his Republican convention as a plagiarism charge and other unforced errors threaten to overshadow GOP efforts to unify behind him.
