U.S. media have reported that Mr Kelly and other White House officials had been aware for several months that the claims were keeping the White House staff secretary from obtaining security clearance.

During Wednesday’s briefing, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed that Porter made the decision to leave on his own.
“It’s ultimately their determination at the White House whether they want to grant a permanent clearance”, said former Federal Bureau of Investigation assistant director Ron Hosko.

Even if Porter was telling his colleagues that the whole thing was simply an attempt by his exes to smear him, wouldn’t a warning from the Federal Bureau of Investigation trump that?
