In a special UpFront, from the RNC, we speak to one of Trump’s top advisers, potential defense secretary Michael Flynn, about why he supports the candidate.

The first three days of this week’s convention bordered on chaos, starting with a plagiarism charge involving his wife Melania Trump’s speech and moving on to Texas Sen.

“I appreciate Trump’s rhetoric”.

Addressing a raucous crowd in Cleveland, Ohio, on the final day of the GOP’s presidential nominating convention, the billionaire businessman and former reality TV star said the United States is facing a “moment of crisis” and vowed that his plan “will put America first”.

The speech will set the tone for Trump’s next three months of campaigning, explaining why he feels Clinton is unfit to lead and why he would be better at improving the USA economy and handling the threat of Islamic State militants.

Though he beat 16 primary rivals, he is viewed with unprecedented negativity by the broader electorate, and is struggling in particular with younger voters and minorities, groups Republican leaders know they need for the party to grow.

This week’s Republican National Convention has seen drama ranging from the plagiarised speech his wife delivered and the way the campaign prolonged the episode to Ted Cruz’s shocking address on Wednesday in which he refused to endorse Trump and encouraged Americans to vote their conscience, CNN reported.
