Donald Trump says US risks war with Russia over Crimea
Another is that he’s such a careless speaker that it can sometimes be impossible to tell what he means.

“So he has the Olympics”, Trump said that May.
Ms Clinton accused Mr Trump of scapegoating the parents of a Muslim soldier killed in Iraq.
THE FACTS: Putin did go into Ukraine. And that’s under the Obama’s administration with his strong ties to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. “Wouldn’t that be great?”, Trump yesterday said at an election rally in Ashburn, Virginia, a suburb of Washington DC.
Trump then acknowledged Putin’s already grabbed part of Ukraine – and then blamed it on President Obama.
Stephanopoulos responded: “Well, he’s already there, isn’t he?” For example, Trump told MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts in 2013, “I do have a relationship” with Putin. You have Obama there. “But I’m not there, you have Obama there, and frankly that whole part of the world is a mess, under Obama”. Neither Trump’s campaign nor a spokesperson for Lyovochkin would confirm or deny whether Trump’s campaign chairman is still on the payroll.
In a Fox News Sunday interview, Clinton was asked about the emails and suspicions of Russian involvement.
Trump also told ABC that he was planning to look into the idea of recognizing Russia’s annexation of Crimea, and that “from what he’d heard”, the people of Crimea would prefer to be part of Russian Federation.
The problem, though, is that this clearly isn’t true.
Trump adviser Carter Page has extensive dealings with Gazprom, the Russian state-run energy company with strong ties to Putin and his inner circle. Here are some comments in in 2015 (reported, incidentally, by CNN).
WASHINGTON ― Just days before Republicans adopted a new, more Russia-friendly plank into their party platform, one of Donald Trump’s top advisers visited Moscow in July to deliver speeches criticizing decades of USA foreign policy.
Trump has said this over and over again, since the invasion began.
Trump had earlier unnerved NATO member nations by questioning the long absolute U.S. commitment to defend any member of the Atlantic alliance should it be attacked by Russian Federation.
Kramer points out it’s not unusual for prominent American politicians to have relationships with powerful businessmen around the world, including in Ukraine and Russian Federation. Russian Federation annexed the Ukrainian territory of Crimea in 2014. I said that. When I said, ‘Believe me, Russia’s not going into Ukraine, alright?’ They’re not going into Ukraine.
This is whitewashing of a blatantly illegal territory grab by Putin, one that nearly no countries on Earth recognize.
“It is somewhat stupefying”, said Hannah Thoburn, a Ukraine and Russian Federation expert at the Hudson Institute, a think tank.
Donald TrumpDonald TrumpMeg Whitman will support Clinton for president Trump spokeswoman: “Khan “proponent of Sharia Law” Khan slams Trump’s Purple Heart comments: “You did not serve” MORE shot back at President Obama on Tuesday, after the commander in chief said the GOP nominee is “unfit” to be president”.
DONALD: I really think we should say, hey look, they’re really out there doing a job.
That’s the key point here.
“In this case they (the Americans) are trying to camouflage some of their own (pre-election) shenanigans by demonizing Russian Federation”.
“So many people who I know and have worked with have been so adversely affected by the sanctions policy”, Page said in March.
“The whole reason we have alliances like these is to deter countries like Russian Federation from laying a finger on our allies”.
Despite its official stance, Kremlin-backed TV has tilted its coverage in favor of Trump, whom Putin has called “very talented”. “Because I think my side was rigged – if I didn’t win by massive landslides”.
This isn’t “news” in the traditional sense, as we’ve known it for quite some time now.

But it has the virtue of being true – and being much more troubling than mere ignorance.
