Donald Trump set for rally in Manchester
Speaking to CNN’s Anderson Cooper, she said: “He’s bringing it to our communities and our country, and someone who’s questioned the citizenship of the first African-American president, who has courted white supremacists, who’s been sued for housing discrimination against communities of color, who’s attacked a judge for his Mexican heritage and promised a mass deportation force is someone who is very much pedaling bigotry and prejudice and paranoia”.

Following a staff shake-up last week amid worsening poll numbers against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Trump has sought to move to the center at least rhetorically in a number of areas, including immigration.
“They feel people aren’t standing up for them and they have in many cases given up on the whole electoral process and I think you have a fantastic opportunity here with this campaign”, he said.
Clinton, the 68-year-old Senator from NY, is leading Trump by considerable margin in several U.S. polls. “He’s thinking about these things, people are talking to him and he’s reflecting that”. In North Carolina, a state with a history of close presidential results, Hispanic voters make up a small but rapidly growing percentage of the electorate. All I can tell you: “I can only speak for myself”. They – just as Trump said – recoil when you talk about throwing out grandmas who have been here for decades. Trying to win over voters by basically telling them they’re losers with nothing to lose by voting for you, is an odd strategy. But in an interview broadcast on Fox News Channel, he said that while he would not allow citizenship, he would “work with” those in the country illegally.
If you are one of those uncommitted voters or reluctant Trump supporters who have been waiting for a kinder, gentler and more inclusive Donald Trump to appear – this ain’t it. You know, people who traditionally vote Republican.
In fact, Mr. Blow was very straightforward and very correct in describing Trump’s dog-whistle racism labeled a “minority outreach”. Given Trump’s recent remarks and his dour depiction of Black living, voters are pushing back and saying that he’s looking at things incorrectly.
On Monday, Trump blamed Democrats for “poverty, failing schools and broken homes” in inner cities that are predominantly black. Forty-five percent called for both. Contrast Trump’s typically Republican proposals with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s proposals that address all of the issues plaguing not just African Americans, but all minorities and white working Americans. For Republican presidential candidates, a rough rule of thumb is that to secure victory, they must receive upward of 40 per cent of the Latino vote. The rate for whites is 4.5.
The unemployment rate for black teens between the ages of 16-24 was 18.7 as opposed to 9.1 for white teens in the same age group.
Trump is supposed to drive up the score with white men. Trump, who lost a housing discrimination lawsuit, now says minorities have nothing to lose by trusting him to improve their housing.
To reach these voters, Republicans typically take a different approach. Eighty-nine percent of blacks now have access to health insurance. One stop to broaden minority outreach that’s already on Trump’s agenda is Detroit, where Carson grew up.
The silence from those overwhelmingly white crowds when The Donald starting riffing on the “please give me a chance black people portion of his speech” reminded me of the scene from my favorite comedy “Blazing Saddles” in which Bart, the new black sheriff, rides into town and the white people realize he is not one of them.
Trump had said earlier this week that he would be open to a “softening” on immigration, and made a series of comments that indicated a path to legalization was likely as long as they paid taxes accumulated from their time living here illegally.
I certainly hope so. “I don’t support that”.
In the words of Brother Malcolm X, they ain’t field negroes.
“Everywhere I go I get the same reaction”. Today, only about four in ten (41%) Americans say same-sex marriage goes against their religious beliefs, down from 51% in 2013 and 62% in 2003….
Before August gets away from me, I want to apologize to all the fans of Elvis Presley that I have made fun of and mocked all these years.

“What do you have to lose” is a risky pitch, carrying as it does the implication that black communities are now terrible. “Life is too complex”.
