Donald Trump set to hold massive rally tonight in Alabama

Trump’s team has had to move the pep rally and town-hall meeting twice already after demand for tickets exceeded the seating capacity of the Mobile Civic Center, which can hold 14,000 people.

The 40,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium was about half-full when Trump began his speech.

Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has been drawing large crowds at events across the country, but his event in Alabama today could draw his largest gathering yet.

The Alabama Secretary of State’s office said more than 30,000 people are expected Friday night.

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson told CNN earlier Friday he planned to pick up Trump from the airport and give him a lift to the stadium in his auto.

Before Trump arrived, his fans – some carrying signs, others wearing T-shirts supporting the billionaire businessman – spoke of his outsider status in a crowded field dominated by former and current elected officials as the song “Sweet Home Alabama” blared from loudspeakers.

The City of Mobile said it’s excited to welcome Trump and the attention he brings with his campaign.

“Trump’s positions are deeply out of step with the Alabama way of life”, the campaign said in the email.

Trump defended the capitalist system in general and said he would try to convince Francis of its merits if the two ever met.

Peebles, a Democrat who was once on President Obama’s national finance committee, said that because black Americans are “a very aspirational community”, Trump’s success as an entrepreneur will resonate.

“It’s going to end up at thirty- to fourty-thousand people in Alabama”, Trump said this week.

“We have a stock market not doing so well, we have a country not doing so well, we’ve been saying it for a long time”, Trump said. “He seems like a pretty good guy”, Trump said.
