Eventually, Bush said that he thinks Trump is a jerk because “when anybody, anybody, disparages people with disabilities, it sets me off. That’s why I called him a jerk, because he disparaged a person who he knew had a disability and made fun of him”.
Bush’s daughter graduated from a drug court program in Florida, and he and the other candidates are advocating for the expansion of such programs nationwide.
Bush is one of several Republican candidates in New Hampshire this week. “There are reasons why people are angry; I get that”.
Jeb Bush refused to say directly whether or not he would support Donald Trump if he were the eventual Republican nominee.
Bush also knocked Trump for offending swaths of the electorate with inflammatory rhetoric about key issues like immigration.
Just days before Christmas, Bush blasted Trump as a “jerk” at a town hall in New Hampshire for mocking a reporter with a disability – something Trump denies that he did.
Turning more serious, Bush said he admired some aspects of Trump, such as his successful business record, although he said he thought Trump might have exaggerated some of it, and to an extent liked his ability to speak his mind without resorting to politically correct statements.
Bush noticeably omitted one of his talking points about gun rights, in which he regularly tells a story about Charlton Heston awarding him a rifle after becoming NRA “Statesman of the Year” in 2003. “My brother has been a strong supporter and I love him dearly”. Many in the GOP don’t want their next president to be a third Bush.
Dyar said the video clips of Trump, taken at a SC rally in November, infuriated him.
“His game is up to par, and he’ll do better than expected”, Gonzalez said. He said it is incumbent upon the country’s next president to use the bully pulpit to address drug addiction in a meaningful way. Marco Rubio among Bush’s chief rivals.
The Republican presidential candidate, who early on in his campaign referred to himself as a “joyful tortoise”, walked over to a 13-year-old boy here at a breakfast joint Wednesday and pulled out a tiny turtle figurine. “So you asked me twice and I answered it twice”, Bush claimed.
“For dealers, they ought to be put away forever as far as I’m concerned”, he said, to applause.
