Much of that rhetoric was gone Monday night, when Trump sought to allay concerns his immigration position was unfairly harsh.

More than half the respondents (55 percent) to a new Pew Research Center poll say Republican Donald Trump would be a “poor” or “terrible” president, compared to the 27 percent who say he’d be “good” or “great” and the 15 percent who think he’d be just ‘average’. “Mexico is going to pay for the wall”.
Essentially, Trump said, he would do what President Barack Obama is doing but “perhaps with a lot more energy”. “But we want to come up with something fair”, he said.
“His message has been: I’m the manliest candidate, I’m the strongest, I know how to protect women – which is a pretty paternalistic take on it – I’m going to destroy ISIS and be very tough, to the point where he’s talking about the size of his own manhood”, she said of the candidate. “We’ve got gang members, we have killers, we have a lot of bad people that have to get out of this country. they’re gonna be out of this country so fast your head will spin”. “We’re going to get them out”.
“He has said exactly the same thing all long: Let’s enforce the law”, Ms. Conway said.
“Even Sen. Jeff Sessions”, a hard-liner on immigration, “he doesn’t deport 11 million people in his plan”, Conway said on CNBC on Monday.
The new tone from Trump comes as he continues to struggle in the polls with nonwhite voters.
Trump spoke to black voters about murder rates, which he said were up everywhere.
Trump was originally scheduled to make a speech on immigration in Denver on Thursday, but according to The Denver Post the speech has been postponed.

Trump went on to speak about two different sets of rules, claiming that Hillary Clinton and her crimes represented actions that needed to be investigated by a special prosecutor. The ex-president, who oversees the foundation with daughter Chelsea Clinton, also said he would hold his final Clinton Global Initiative meeting next month in NY regardless of what the election’s outcome might be. On Friday, the New York Times reported that Mrs. Clinton told the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during her almost 3.5-hour long interview that former secretary Colin Powell had advised her his use of private email during his tenure, though he did not use a private server.
A frequent point of criticism: Clinton doesn’t look like a typical president. Results from the latest tracking poll show that only 8 percent of black voters support him, compared to 87 percent who support Clinton. Only a quarter of Clinton supporters said society has reached the point of equal opportunity. He said the official name would be changed from the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation to the Clinton Foundation. And he said he would step down from the board and no longer raise money for it.
Trump, meanwhile, has accused Clinton of “using the woman card” to boost her appeal.
“I do feel sometimes like this campaign has entered into an alternative universe”, she said in an appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live taped Monday afternoon.

The new ad reservations include $3 million more for the remainder of August and almost $77 million for September and October in eight states, the aide said.
