Donald Trump Slams Hillary Clinton Legacy Of ‘Death, Terrorism’
Newly crowned Republican nominee Donald Trump thanked volunteers and staff members Friday for “an awesome convention” and proclaimed party unity – even as he continued to bash rival Ted Cruz and re-litigated their primary disputes of the spring. Mr Cruz did congratulate Mr Trump but urged delegates to “vote your conscience”, a slogan that has been associated with the Never Trump movement within the party. “His vision of America is one where we Americans are kind of helpless, we need to be rescued”, Clinton said.

Mehdi Hasan asks “Never Trump” delegate Dane Waters why, as a Republican, he wanted to block the nomination. Interrupted by chants of “Trump, Trump, Trump”, Cruz paused and said with a smile, “I appreciate the enthusiasm of the NY delegation”. But when Cruz told them “vote your conscience” up and down the ticket, it became clear that he was not going to endorse Trump.
“No one knows the system better than me”, he said. But the existence of the tweet would seem to suggest that Trump thought the speech was a big deal, and that he needed to say something about it. And his claim to have approved the speech both undercuts his complaint about it and underscores the amateurishness of his campaign.
In what should have been a feel-good victory lap the morning after his thundering acceptance speech, Trump instead defended his decision to retweet an unflattering photo of Cruz’s wife, Heidi, and returned to wondering about possible links between Cruz’s father and President John F. Kennedy’s assassin.
Ivanka Trump, daughter of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, tests the teleprompters and microphones on stage before the start of the fourth day of the Republican National Convention. Trump said Cruz had “ruined his political career”.
“Like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes in prevail in November”, Cruz told the convention. “This was probably one of the most peaceful, one of the most attractive, one of the most love filled conventions in the history of conventions”.
Yes, how dare Ted Cruz refuse to back a man who besmirched his wife’s physical appearance and accused his father of being involved in a presidential assassination.
The billionaire businessman pledged to curb immigration, build a wall along the border with Mexico and save the nation from democratic rival Hillary Clinton as he formally accepted the Republican nomination for president. The delegates responded with angry boos, and Cruz backer and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli escorted Heidi Cruz off the convention floor as she was heckled by Trump delegates.
