Ultimately, protests were relatively sparse, peaceful, and generally non-disruptive.
Trump addressed recent killings in several USA cities involving police and civilians.
Perhaps the most effective introduction of the entire week was provided on the last night by Ivanka Trump. They assembled, rallied for an hour or so, and marched peacefully through the streets of downtown before heading home.
When it was over, Trump was joined on stage by family members as balloons cascaded from above and confetti blew around the arena. With his seat a virtual lock, and with political capital to build, it’s safe to say Emmer played his RNC cards well. Cara Pavalock, a CT state lawmaker attending the convention, said that’s a reflection of how much work the party needs to do on the issue.

Last night in Cleveland, on the fourth night of this year’s Republican National Convention, Trump accepted the nomination in front of thousands of cheering Republicans, delivering a speech that would be described as, at best, a deviation from the standard acceptance speech. Remember, he was trounced by President Bill Clinton in 1996.
