Trump, who’s never demonstrated any real understanding of criminal-justice policy, apparently likes the idea of police being able to stop-and-frisk Americans – including those who’ve done nothing wrong and have been accused of no crimes – effectively at the discretion of individual officers.
Mike Gaudiuso, called stop-and-frisk “a double-edged sword”.
Trump vowed “to stop the drugs from flowing into our county and poisoning our youth and many other people”.
At the same time, Mr Trump recently reached out to African- American voters as the gap in many opinion polls has narrowed between him and his Democratic rival, Mrs Hillary Clinton, ahead of the Nov 8 presidential election.
Obama also said Trump, who has been making increasingly vocal appeals for black support before rallies that are mostly white, could benefit from a visit to the new museum.
After his comments on the Charlotte protests, Trump devoted his Pittsburgh speech to energy policy. First, his promise to support the Republican nominee. But the latest incidents of police shootings allow Mr. Trump to trudge on with his historically baseless claim that the blacks have the worst time “ever, ever, ever”.
The Republican presidential contender, eager to blunt criticism that his campaign inspires racism, confronted racial tensions after police shootings of black men in Oklahoma and North Carolina.
