Donald Trump suffers defeat in Washington and Wyoming

Under all four possible Florida-Ohio scenarios, Cruz would need at least 77 percent of remaining delegates to clinch the nomination – a feat that seems unlikely at this time.

“So if you don’t want to see Donald Trump as the nominee, the only way to beat him- there is only one candidate who has beaten him over and over and over again, and who will beat him”. For Rubio especially, Florida’s all-or-nothing contest could be his campaign’s swan song if he doesn’t win.

“You’re not going to get me to answer a yes-or-no question”, Kasich said. Rubio received 1,059 votes, Kasich 1009, Trump 391, and U.S. Sen.

So far, Donald Trump has been winning most of the primaries, but he’s only been collecting 43 percent of the delegates. It takes a majority, which raises the possibility of a contested convention with an uncertain outcome.

Here’s the problem for Trump’s rivals: No single candidate has emerged as the clear beneficiary of the billionaire’s inability to close the deal with late-deciding voters. Ted Cruz (R-TX) battling for second place behind Trump, in a field which still included retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson (who has since endorsed Trump). Millions of dollars in advertisements blasting Trump’s business record and brash demeanor have been blanketing airwaves in Florida, as well as in OH and IL. She won the American Samoa caucus on Super Tuesday, March 1. Ditto for Florida, which has 99 delegates up for grabs.

Kasich will receive nine delegates.

“Trump can’t be stopped in terms of his lead, but he might not get the delegates threshold”.

Once Jeb Bush dropped out of the presidential race in February, the party’s establishment wing turned to Rubio as the best, and possibly last, hope to stop Trump, who has drawn scorn from many party officials and influential Republicans. Over the weekend, Kasich picked up the endorsement of retired House Speaker John Boehner.

With these results, Cruz wins nine delegates, while Rubio and Trump scored one delegate each, with another delegate uncommitted.

The stakes don’t come any higher for Marco Rubio than what he faces in the Florida primary on Tuesday. They are New Jersey, Montana and South Dakota.

Ted Cruz is attempting to make Ohio’s Republican primary a three-person race, sweeping into Columbus Sunday night insisting he’s the only viable alternative to front-runner Donald Trump.

Guam’s Republican Party met early Saturday morning – Friday evening in Eastern Time – to elect delegates to this summer’s convention in Cleveland.

Seemingly recognizing the challenge, a dozen Kasich supporters held signs outside Cruz’s rally Sunday evening as supporters filed in through the rain.
