Donald Trump takes control of Republican race
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, fresh off a visit to Berks County, said the Republican race is a two-man contest between front-runner Donald Trump and U.S. Sen.

Cruz apologized to rival Ben Carson earlier this month after his campaign promoted a news story suggesting that Carson was getting out of the race. “We’re not going to beat Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders if we’re still divided in September and October”, Rubio says. Even in a year defined by anti-establishment anger, there appear to be more than enough voters willing to pull the lever for an establishment-minded candidate to deny Trump or Cruz the Republican nomination.
The networks called the SC primary for Trump shortly after polls closed on Saturday, with Sens.
Donald Trump is ahead in three quarters of the next dozen states to vote in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, including Nevada, which makes its choice today. Cruz faces a critical test on March 1, or Super Tuesday, when primaries are held in multiple states, including his home state of Texas and other southern states. He has won the latter two by overwhelming pluralities.
Mrs Clinton capitalised on a more diverse Democratic electorate who helped her rebound after a second-place finish to Mr Sanders in the New Hampshire primary. Instead, she looks set to follow up a decent five-point win in Nevada with a big win in SC next Saturday (she leads in the polls there by 25 points) and go into Super Tuesday with a strong wind at her back.
Trump heads into Tuesday’s Republican caucuses in Nevada with 67 delegates after sweeping all 50 delegates at stake in SC.
Rubio and Cruz argued that with roughly 70 percent of Republican voters consistently voting for someone other than Trump, they have an opening as the Republican field keeps shrinking. To win the GOP nomination, a candidate must secure 1,237 delegates. The former Florida governor has leaned heavily on his family connections to carry him in the state, bringing in his brother, former President George W. Bush, and his mother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, this week to campaign for him. These elites have quite a bit of money to throw around, especially with Bush out. “I don’t want to say it’s mine”.

“He wants to grow the party as opposed to Cruz”, Dole said of Rubio. Kasich is hoping to make an impact later in March when Midwestern states hold their primaries.
