Earlier Friday an Arizona Republican Party spokesman said Trump’s event, which was scheduled for the Hyatt Regency in downtown Phoenix, was canceled with no immediate plans to reschedule.

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump offered fresh details of how he would tackle illegal immigration on Saturday, saying he would crack down on those who overstay their visas as he sought to quiet criticism from conservatives.

Campaign officials said Wednesday that Trump planned the August 31 visit to Phoenix, with people close to the campaign touting it as a policy speech to outline his immigration policy.
