Donald Trump Thanks Wrong Scott Walker for RNC Speech

“That pledge”, he said, “was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack Heidi that I’m gonna nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father”.

The comments could be read as Cruz simply reacting to the backlash against his speech; maybe he didn’t really mean to stir the pot, but now he’s just got to respond in-kind to his critics and to Team Trump.

Donald Trump doesn’t live in that fictional world. “I don’t think he hurt Trump- I think he hurt himself”.

“Beginning on January 20, 2017, safety will be restored”, he said.

Then, Trump sparked more questions about his Oval Office readiness by suggesting in the midst of the convention that the US might not defend America’s North Atlantic Treaty Organisation partners with him as president. The outsider figure who comes into the political sphere and tells it like it is – only to have Americans realize how right he is – is a long-running type in vaguely liberal entertainments. “I think she’s one of his best assets”. Conventions have been made-for-television events carefully timed to spotlight the candidate and his message.

Monday night was overshadowed by controversy over how Melania Trump’s speech was identical in spots to Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech. Finally, on Wednesday, a speechwriter for Trump’s company issued a statement saying she was to blame.

“And to those listening, please, don’t stay home in November”, Cruz said.

That was a failure of management by Trump. And he asked, “What does it say when you stand up and say “vote your conscience” and rabid supporters of our nominee began screaming “what a frightful thing to say”?” “He is my nominee, and I’m gonna give him 110 percent”.

“He doesn’t inspire confidence”.

After Trump’s remarks, the White House said the United States has an “ironclad” commitment to mutual defence among the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies. “He hasn’t proven anything to me”.

But when Cruz took questions from the audience, he left little doubt about his stance on Trump. He still does, and at this point won’t vote for him in the fall.

Yet the NY billionaire has often spoken effusively about his friendships with gay people while avoiding anti-gay rhetoric that many other GOP candidates have embraced. The timing is aimed at shifting attention away from the end of Donald Trump’s Republican convention and generating excitement before the start of Clinton’s own convention next week in Philadelphia.

None of this gained Trump much.

The Republican presents as an outsider who defies Washington elites who spin the true state of the nation and race relations: “We can not afford to be so politically correct any more”.

Donald Trump’s pitch to Americans has honed in on the most successful – and worrying – aspects driving Britain’s exit from Europe and Pauline Hanson’s revival in Australia. The language may have been too vague or coarse for the usual media mavens, but Trump closed with the tone which anxious voters no doubt wanted to hear. But has anyone seen the Republican Party?

This isn’t my GOP, and I know it’s not yours either.

Trump wants to build a wall along the USA border with Mexico, ban Muslims from war-torn Middle Eastern countries and renegotiate global trade agreements.

Donald Trump railed against illegal immigrants and refugees from countries linked to terrorism.

Ivanka Trump was a big hit among the delegates. It’s one thing to savage an opponent – that’s what conventions do – but encouraging chants of “Lock her up”? In June, 54 percent supported encouraging more Americans to carry guns legally for use in self-defense.

It was the biggest night so far for the NY real estate mogul’s campaign and final night of the 2016 Republican National Convention held at the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland in the state of Ohio. The party was in the unusual role of putting some careful distance between itself and Trump, whose negative poll numbers are high. How does Ms. Clinton, without endangering support in her own ranks, reach out to Republicans to secure her win?
