Donald Trump to accept Republican presidential nomination
Just hours after Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, the Hillary Clinton campaign slammed what it called “dark picture” of the country that Trump had painted during his speech.

“I have a message for all of you: The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end”, Trump said. But I don’t want his endorsement…. “Just, Ted, stay home, relax, enjoy yourself”.
During the campaign, Cruz bitterly lashed out at Trump when the National Enquirer, which had also ran an unsubstantiated story accusing him of having multiple affairs, published a picture purportedly of Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, standing near Lee Harvey Oswald.
“I don’t know his father”. Mrs. Trump was in the arena to watch her husband give his acceptance speech, perhaps the biggest speech of his very public life.
“I think Heidi Cruz is a great person”.
“All I did was point out the fact that on the cover of the National Enquirer there was a picture of him and insane Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast”, the GOP nominee said.
“Ted never denied that it was his father”, Trump told the room, which CBS News” Sopan Deb reports was largely silent while Trump went on. Why should he stand beside a man who accused his father of collaborating with JFK’s killer? And on Thursday, Cruz referenced the incident, as he drew an angry reaction from members of his state’s own GOP delegation.
“We must make the most of our moment…to fight for freedom to protect our god given rights, even of those with whom we don’t agree”, Cruz said over the booing, so that when we are old and grey “we will be able to say freedom matters and I was part of something lovely”.
Trump’s speech was consistent with the theme of many of his previous speeches, where he painted the current state of the country as bleak, unsafe and constantly under attack, and saying only he could solve the various problems if elected president. “Let’s defeat her in November”, Trump said.
Trump, well known to Americans as a reality TV star, has upset many in the Republican establishment with his free-wheeling style, frequent insults to rivals and controversial policy proposals such as imposing a temporary ban on Muslims entering the country and building a wall along the border with Mexico.
“He may have ruined his political career”, Trump said.
“I have seen him fight for his family”.
“The day that became abrogated was the day that became personal”, Cruz said.
Trump said attacks on police and terrorism at home and overseas “threaten our very way of life”.
Said Trump: “I only want to admit individuals into our country who will support our values and love our people”. “We’re not babies. His people are on the PAC”. In lieu of an apology Trump offered a compliment, calling Heidi Cruz “the best thing” the Texas senator has going for him.

“I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence. of the hateful foreign ideology”, he said to some cheers from the crowd. “But if he did, it’s fine”, Trump said.
