Donald Trump to Appear on “Late Show with Stephen Colbert”
That was enough to double NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which had 2.92 million and triple ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, which had 1.75 million.

As Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have shown over and over, sometimes comedy is the best form of political commentary.
Following up on Stephen Colbert’s big Late Show premiere with Jeb Bush, the host has booked two other Republican hopefuls to appear this month: Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, who will appear on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22, respectively.
On Friday’s episode of “Ellen”, the “Tonight Show” host told Ellen DeGeneres why he’s pleased to welcome Colbert to the competitive late-night landscape. Colbert doesn’t seem to have lost a step and is clearly at the top of his comedic game, masterfully blending his unique sense of humor with a pointed intellect that’s unrivaled in late night.
As long as Colbert keeps up his beloved wit and smooths out his interviews, there will always be an audience to chant “Ste-phen” at the beginning of his show.
Colbert said that it was 11:20 p.m. on Monday night, and nobody could give him a guarantee that the episode would make it to air.
Anyway, because of the length of the show – we’re guessing? – when Colbert’s crew sent the show over to the network, “the computers kept crashing”, he said. “And, we had to cut some stuff we loved”.
Luckily, of course, all went down just fine.
As the oxygen drained from my brain, and my organs started shutting down, I thought, if we ever make it on the air this will be a pretty good story.
“One is enough. That is the only Trump story I’ll be treating myself to tonight”, Colbert says, shifting the bag under his desk.
In its Tuesday debut, “Late Show” delivered a 4.9 household rating and 1.5 in adults 18-49.

But in the clutch, “Late Show’s” technical team managed to get the program file to the proper destination.
