Trump has said he will announce his pick on Friday, just two days ahead of the Republican convention in Cleveland, Ohio, where he is to be officially named as the presidential nominee.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence will reportedly be chosen as Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate.

A Republican official in touch with Pence’s associates said Thursday morning that Pence told those associates he was convinced he was going to be the pick after his Wednesday meeting with Trump. “But he hasn’t announced it yet”.

In addition to Pence, Trump’s shortlist included former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, according to people familiar with the candidate’s thinking.

Republican presidential candidate has selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his vice-presidential pick. But a Republican source confirmed to The Guardian that the choice will be Mr. Pence. But Pence made clear this week that he’s more than willing to play the role of attack dog, strongly criticizing Hillary Clinton during a rally with Trump.

The Trump campaign has yet to confirm this news, but as you can see from the tweets and the media reports this deal is basically signed, sealed, and delivered.

Merritt said he believes Pence will drop out of the governor’s race come Friday: the deadline to withdraw. Interviewed on MSNBC Thursday before the leak, Christie said he would only accept a job in the Trump administration that he wanted.
