Questioned on whether leaving key details on immigration policy unclear so late in the election was a problem, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus demurred, saying: “I just don’t speak for Donald Trump”. He’s been repeatedly accused of racism, including by members of his own party when he said a judge should recuse himself from a Trump University case due to his Mexican heritage.
The very goal of surrogates is to speak for and back up their presidential nominee.

It’s been a long and sometimes puzzling journey to this point for Trump, who defeated 16 Republican opponents while promising to be the toughest on illegal immigration.
The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have insisted the plan is consistent with his previous stances and will not include an amnesty for those residing in the USA illegally. But who he considers a criminal remained unclear.
Ms. Clinton has a five point advantage against Mr. Trump in the polls released by PPP (D), leading by 48 to 43 per cent.

He estimates his support level now to be at 10 percent in the polls the Commission on Presidential Debates is monitoring. If anything, his brash nature has alienated him from some of his original supporters and from many undecided voters who were not originally comfortable with either Trump or Clinton.

Trump sent out a modified version of the message to his followers, tweeting: “Her rallies are held in (blank) & she still has room” instead.
