Donald Trump to hold fundraiser for Chris Christie
After facing a furious backlash in his state for backing Trump in February, the New Jersey governor will be on the receiving end of a $200 per head fundraiser featuring the presumptive Republican nominee on May 19, according to an invitation obtained by Bloomberg News.

He said Trump might feel closer to Christie because he endorsed him before others did, and took political heat for it.
Christie ended his own campaign following a disappointing showing in the New Hampshire primary.
Christie sidestepped questions this week about being on Trump’s ticket, and a top adviser said Wednesday the recent changes in the campaign would not affect the governor’s relationship with the developer.
An adviser to the RNC confirmed that the national party was not involved with planning the event but said that the RNC and Trump campaign officials are engaged in talks about a joint-fundraising agreement. Some experts say Christie could be a contender for Trump’s pick for vice president. “If I ask him to come, he’ll come”.
“He’s the best brawler in American politics”, Halperin said of Christie.
The bipartisan triumphs Christie touted during his first year in office are less common now. But he could try to drum up voters here before the general election in November.
In a new Monmouth University poll, just 15 percent of likely voters for the June 7 New Jersey Republican primary say Christie would help Trump’s campaign while a plurality of 41 percent say Christie would hurt Trump in November.

Almost all poll interviews were conducted before Tuesday night and 70 percent said they will vote for Trump.
