Donald Trump to Meet With GOP Leaders on Capitol Hill
“I am not pretending that Mr. Trump has suddenly become a conservative champion or even a reliable Republican”, Mr. Jindal said.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky did not speak about Trump in his remarks on Monday. And in a recent interview with his home state’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he said that he would be willing to step down as the co-chair of the Republican convention held this summer. “She’s a terrific person but she’s very much a free agent and I didn’t know about this until yesterday”. He is also planning a trip to Washington on Thursday to meet party leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, who have had a mixed reaction to his primary success.
“They feel so threatened at this point that their power, their prestige, their purse will be adversely affected by the change that is coming with [Donald] Trump and with someone like Paul Nehlen, that they’re not thinking straight right now”, she added. Nehlen has criticized Ryan’s refusal to back Trump and has issued a statement saying, “If Mr. Trump is the nominee, I will support that decision”.
Cavuto asked Markay about mainstream Republicans violating their pledge to vote for the Republican nominee, who will nearly certainly be Donald Trump.
While commentators are spending airtime and newsprint analysing whether Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump can unify the party, he appears keener on collision than compromise.
“The reason we suspended the race last week is with Indiana’s loss I didn’t see a viable path to victory”.
“She can’t talk about me because nobody respects women more than Donald Trump”, he said.
Trump also contradicted himself on whether Clinton’s affairs were important campaign fodder – he initially said his comments knocking Hillary Clinton were blown out of proportion, but then said the substance of his attack was “a big thing”.
Oklahoma’s Republican Party received a similar letter from the Cruz campaign, state GOP chair Pam Pollard told CNN.
“I just want the guy to win”. One name that isn’t now on “Team Trump” is current Speaker of the House, Rep. Paul Ryan.
This comes after Trump demurred during Meet the Press yesterday over whether Ryan “could” serve as chairman of the convention without actually endorsing Trump. Expanding his plank, the candidate said his policies would cut taxes for the middle class but may increase them for richer people.
Meanwhile, some GOP lawmakers indicated Wednesday they plan to back Trump but just want more clarification on his platform. “I think that should be a prerequisite for even running”. “I guess she’s… endorsing somebody who’s running against Paul”, Trump said on CNN.

And on Capitol Hill, where Ryan has managed to remain popular since taking over as speaker in the fall, some Republicans made clear that they would like to see him come around to supporting Trump sooner rather than later.
