Donald Trump tripled down on the claim President Barack Obama, aided by Hillary Clinton, was the founder of ISIS, the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq.

Donald Trump’s campaign said Friday Mr. Trump was being sarcastic when he used the term “founder” to describe President Obama’s relationship with the Islamic State terror group, but that his broader point about Mr. Obama’s foreign policy was not sarcastic.

As Trump doubled-down on his claim that Obama is the literal co-founder of ISIS, his spokespeople struggled while giving best-possible interpretations of his statement.

“You meant that he created the vacuum”.

Trump has been using the line since at least January and as recently as Wednesday at a campaign rally in Florida. In fact, in sports they have awards, he gets the most valuable player award. I mean, with his bad policies, that’s why ISIS came about. Trump has said he would “knock the hell out of ISIS”, without offering details, and would persuade Gulf states to bankroll safe zones for Syrian refugees so they would not have to be brought to the United States.

As he frequently does, the Republican presidential nominee accused news organizations of misconstruing something he said. “I’m a truth teller. Him and Hillary. I mean, she gets it, too”. “I do”, Trump said. After all much of the time Democrats have said the same things that Trump did.

DT: Therefore, he was the founder of ISIS.

“At the end, it’s either going to work, or I’m going to, you know, I’m going to have a very, very nice, long vacation”, he told CNBC.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the word “sarcasm” is defined as the use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to hurt someone’s feelings or to criticise something in a humorous way. ISIS is a common acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Trump responded: “I don’t care”.

Obama didn’t become USA president until 2009, three years after ISIS began.
