Donald Trump under fire after violence breaks out at rallies

Donald Trump rallied in Tampa Monday afternoon with a double-digit lead in the polls before Tuesday’s primary election.

Law enforcement appeared to be on high alert at the event after Trump cancelled a weekend rally in Chicago because of protesters, but there only were a few dozen people demonstrating outside the amphitheater and a handful who were kicked out for demonstrating inside.

“It will help Trump among hard-core Republicans and hurt him among independents”, said Frank Luntz, a Republican pollster. He cancelled a big rally in Chicago over security after protesters swarmed the event Friday, sparking clashes. The 44-year-old trails Trump in the polls ahead of Tuesday’s winner-takes-all Florida primary.

Trump’s Florida fans strongly defended him Sunday against accusations from Rubio and others that the tone of his campaign has encouraged violence.

Trump’s rallies have been the center of some controversy, as they have been the scene of violence and protests. The candidate is holding a rally today in Tampa before heading back to Ohio.
