A new SC poll of Republicans, by local newspaper The State and Public Policy Polling, showed Mr Trump as the runaway leader with 35 per cent support, followed by Mr Cruz on 18 per cent. Mr Bush is in fifth place with 7 per cent.

According to the poll, 38 percent of Trump voters said they wish the South had won the Civil War to only 24 percent who were glad the North had won while 38 percent of his supporters weren’t sure.
Jeb jumped in to defend his brother, telling the crowd, “If I closed my eyes, I thought it was Michael Moore on the stage”, referring to the director of the 2004 documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, which condemned the Bush administration’s actions in Iraq. The GOP presidential candidate said his rival is a totally “unstable” individual and the “biggest liar he has ever came across”.
