Donald Trump woos African American support
Hillary Clinton dismissed the NY billionaire’s appeal as “so ignorant it’s staggering”. I thought Trump would have to stick with this paranoid revenge fantasy throughout the campaign – until Conway said Sunday that the final policy on forced deportation is “to be determined”.

“To the people of Louisiana we are with you and we will always be with you”, he said, calling out President Barack Obama for not yet visiting the affected areas.
Even with all his rhetoric, Trump will need some magic to attract African-American voters.
Donald Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, sought to soften Trump’s pitch to black voters and thread the needle on their free trade positions in a wide-ranging interview that aired Monday.
The billionaire businessman has seen strong support among white supremacist groups.
Trump said “the MI manufacturing sector is a disaster”, and no sector has been hurt more by “Hillary Clinton’s policies than the auto sector”, statements which seemed to ignore that since the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler in 2008-09, auto manufacturing jobs in MI have grown from 22,800 to 38,200 and auto parts jobs also have grown, from 73,400 to 162,800.

Some analysts say Mr Trump, trailing badly in national polls for weeks, desperately needs to broaden his appeal beyond his base of white working-class voters. He said his rival Hillary Clinton would rather give jobs to refugees than American citizens.
If Trump is trying to win over black voters, he faces a steep uphill climb.
CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett reports it was supposed to be a day for a clean slate, but Trump’s latest attempted outreach to a larger voting bloc was called ignorant and heavy-handed by his critics.
When pressed by Camerota about his previous support for NAFTA, Pence said, “The time has come for us to reopen NAFTA, and renegotiate it with a president who’s proven himself to be one of the most skilled business leaders and negotiators in the world”.
“And at the end of four years, I guarantee you, that I will get over 95 per cent of the African-American vote, I promise you; because I will produce for the African-Americans”, Trump said.

Timmer said changes Trump made to his campaign “were clearly indicators that he’s going to stick with what got him to where he is – the unplugged Trump”.
