Donations to AAP increased by 275% from a year ago

During the period, AAP received Rs 44.71 crore, including Rs 35.12 crore – 78.5 per cent – from individual donors. Donations from Maharashtra constituted 23.28 per cent of total donations while Delhi donors gave AAP 20.42 per cent of total donations.

CPI declared that it had received Rs 1.22 crore in 2013-14, while in the coming fiscal the size of donations swelled to Rs 1.33 crore, that is, a rise of 9 per cent.

It said 24.65% of total donations for the AAP, which has 67 members in the 70-seat Delhi assembly, came from outside India.

Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said it has received 10 lakh calls with opinion about the implementation of the second phase of the odd-even vehicle restriction scheme in the national capital.

While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) topped the list as the party received a total of Rs 437.35 crores as donations during FY 2014-15, added the report by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The two other major players in Delhi politics – the Congress and the BJP – are national parties and their donations were analysed in December last. National Secretary of the AAP Pankaj Gupta, who is in charge of funds, said, “It is possible that in some cases, PAN details or addresses of the donors are not mentioned, and that is because in several instances, donors just leave a cheque for us without mentioning their details”.

ADR, an organisation which works for transparency and electoral reforms, based its analysis on the total donations declared to the Election Commission by Delhi’s political parties. The names, addresses and PAN details of 111 donors, whose cumulative contribution was Rs 91.47 lakh, were not available in the AAP’s donations report.

The CPI-M received Rs 2.09 crore and Rs 3.42 crore in those years.
