Landon Donovan netted his first MLS goal in nearly two years to equalise for LA Galaxy against Sporting Kansas City and extend his record for the most goals scored in the division.

The Galaxy featured big-name worldwide stars in Robbie Keane and Ashley Cole – in addition to Donovan -and Toronto FC (Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore) and Sporting KC (Matt Besler, Brad Davis, Benny Feilhaber) are stocked with recognizable names, past and present, from Team USA. Alan Gordon notched his second goal in as many games and Landon Donovan signaled his return to action with a dramatic equalizer late in the match to help Los Angeles steal a point in the Paris of the Plains.
Second-half strikes Jacob Peterson and Dominic Dwyer turned things in Sporting’s favour after Alan Gordon had opened the scoring for the Galaxy. In the 69th, Dwyer gave Sporting a 2-1 lead off a quickly-taken free kick. Dwyer beat defender Daniel Steres to bury a shot from inside the six-yard box.
Sporting KC is five points ahead of Seattle for the sixth and final playoff spot.
In select cities, Fox aired a game between Sporting KC and the L.A. Galaxy at 2 p.m. ET and a game between Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls at 5 p.m. ET, managing to draw 1.298 million viewers despite competition from the NFL.
But Altidore curled home a fine 68th-minute free-kick to halve the deficit before scuffing home the equaliser for minutes from time to prevent the Red Bulls from leapfrogging Toronto into first place in the conference.
