DOOM Open Beta gets Absolutely Slaughtered on Steam
Over the past few days, PC users have had the chance to dig in to Doom‘s open beta – id’s sneak preview before the game’s release next month. The two multiplayer modes are “Team Deathmatch” and “Warpath”. At their disposal are the lightning gun, rocket launcher, super shotgun, static rifle, plasma rifle, vortex rifle and heavy assault rifle.

Via Twitter, the game’s account announced that the open beta will be extended until 11:59 p.m. EST tonight on PC, Xbox One and PS4. Since the original launch, 10 million copies of the DOOM series have been sold and there’s even been a sci-fi action film loosely based upon the game.
Pre-loading for the open beta started on Tuesday but for PS4, you’ll need to go to the PlayStation Store, search for Doom, and download the “DOOM Open Beta” file. You can find these screenshots below.
As I said in the beginning, DOOM’s true legacy has always been as a brilliant single-player experience.
“Doom’s” multiplayer beta is fast-paced, but maybe not fast enough for old-school shooter fans.
In addition to all that, there’s the Doom open beta, which seems to be the most criticized of them all and is now mostly negative on Steam.
“It’s still cool, it looks nice but it has lost what makes it Doom”.
Doom doesn’t know what it wants to be, it is stuck somewhere between a modern day shooter and the classic Doom and fails to offer anything that’s remotely similar to what a Doom game should be.
While the DOOM beta had high hopes to be different from your average shooter, some Steam users have been highly disappointed with their experience. A hack module could bestow you with the ability to see your last killer, or observe enemies health bars above their heads for your next life. You can check out the demon right below.

And this isn’t the only one complaining that the game is a Halo or Call of Duty clone.
