Originally scheduled for launch tomorrow, developer id Software chose to surprise us all with this at QuakeCon today.

Bethesda has announced the first lot of Multiplayer DLC for 2016’s Doom at this year’s QuakeCon.

The DLC pack is a multiplayer-only pack that adds three new maps, an assortment of new weapons and other knick-knacks and, more importantly, a new monster. New customization items are also available including new taunts, patterns, colors, and armor sets based around the theme of robots. Do you already own the season pass?

You can see all of that stuff making a bunch of noise in the launch trailer above, or you can see it for yourself by forking out around £11.99 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

One intriguing feature of the DLC is that players can enjoy the new content without buying it, so long as they’re playing in a party with someone who has purchased the expansion.

This is all well and good, but it’s unfortunate that there’s nothing included for the single-player portion of the game, which was, by far, the most well-received part of the Doom experience.
