Doping scandal: NADA to decide on wrestler Narsingh’s fate today
The wrestler and his coach alleged sabotage but failed to prove it in front of the National Anti-Doping Agency’s (NADA) disciplinary panel. Agarwal did not give details of how the sabotage took place.

The verdict paves the way for Narsingh to compete at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the 74 kg category that he had qualified for by clinching a Bronze medal at the 2015 World Wrestling Championship.
Olympic media winning wrestler Sushil Kumar on Monday said he was happy that Narsingh Yadav has been cleared of doping charges.
He ran into further trouble last Wednesday after it was announced that a second test conducted on July 5 has also returned a positive result.
Kumar, victor of an Olympic bronze medal at 66kg at Beijing 2008 and a silver in London four years later, had demanded the two wrestlers have a play-off to decide who goes to Rio 2016.
Yadav, was replaced by Parveen Rana in the Olympic bound squad but now after NADA’s verdict he will be reinstated.
WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had also backed Narsingh’s claims of a conspiracy, after his sparring partner and roommate Sandeep Tulsi also tested positive for drugs.
Narsingh had even filed a police complaint, naming two fellow wrestlers, one of whom is a 17-year-old.
Also on Saturday, Narsingh’s parents and supporters picketed outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary office in Varanasi, demanding justice for the wrestler.
The wrestling federation has thrown its weight behind him but the sports ministry has said there is little evidence of a conspiracy.
Earlier, the argument put forth by NADA was that Narsingh was not eligible for remission, which he had been asking for, because he failed to establish that he did not commit any fault or negligence.
Narsingh was selected for the Rio Olympics in controversial circumstances as two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar had demanded for trials to determine who should go to the games.

“I am very happy, I can’t wait to to win for my nation in the Olympics”, he said to The Indian Express. “Despite the fiasco I have continued training and hope to be in Rio for the Games as soon as possible”, he added.
