Payne is no stranger to jewel theft, having been accused of crimes all over the world.

The subject of a 2013 documentary, “The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne”, she was charged with shoplifting and remained in the Fulton County jail on Tuesday.

She was taken into custody and charged with shoplifting.

Cops nabbed an global jewel thief who was allegedly up to her very old tricks again at an Atlanta department store.

Police sergeant Warren Pickard from the Atlanta Police Department told WSB-TV that a loss prevention specialist observed Payne stealing the earrings, and then “politely walk[ing] out of the store”.

Officials say Payne, who is a resident of Long Beach, California, was caught stealing the pair of earrings on surveillance video by a security guard. “They took the woman into custody and, a short time thereafter, they got notice that another jurisdiction had a warrant for her and she was an worldwide thief”.

In July, police suspected her of stealing a $32,000 David Yurman engagement ring from South Park Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to affiliate WSOC.

Payne, the star of “The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne”, drew notoriety for lifting a 10 ½-carat diamond in Monte Carlo years ago.

Payne developed a winning strategy – dressing nicely, carrying a designer handbag and arming herself with a detailed story – that she used to charm jewelry store employees.

In 2014, Doris Payne was convicted for the 2013 theft of a $22,500 diamond ring from El Paseo jewelers in Palm Desert, and she was ordered to serve half of her four-year sentence behind bars. Mugshots from her arrests date back to the 1960’s.
