The first and second event days for Valve’s biggest competition for its popular massive online battle arena (MOBA) game, “Dota 2”, dubbed as “The International 2016”, have been concluded.

Six teams were directly invited to compete in Seattle, while other teams battled through the Regional Qualifiers, in which the top two teams from each region stood out, to earn a place in the the main event running through Saturday. Although far less than the grand prize, each of those is more than enough to fund a team for a year or more, which keeps them in the top tier of play for the foreseeable future – at least you would hope so. The latter still managed to push the green team to the lower bracket with a lead score of 2-1, according to Bleacher Report. Two time major champions OG will face off against Korean side MVP Phoenix in the first match of the day with Digital Chaos vs Wings Gaming following that.
The top placing teams took eight spots in the upper bracket, and the other half filled up the lower bracket. Newbee will continue in the lower bracket, and Evil Geniuses now face EHOME in the upper bracket semifinal.
Wednesday, the third day of TI6, is kicking off with the remaining two lower bracket quarterfinals matches, Alliance vs. Fnatic and Newbee vs. Team Liquid. OG, possibly one of the tournament’s most-favored teams, is already out.
The second day of The International was a rough one for Chinese and European Dota 2 teams.
