Doubts about Donald Trump’s “extreme vetting” for immigrants (2 letters)

Trump went on to compare the “ideological” battle against “radical Islam” to the Cold War, saying the USA “needs a new immigration policy immediately” and attempting to make a direct link between immigration and terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that the era of nation building should come to an end, as he laid out a foreign policy approach to deal with the Islamic State militant group and radical Islam. He vowed to partner with any country that shares his goal of defeating the extremist group, regardless of other strategic disagreements, and named Russian Federation as a nation he would like to improve relations with.

In a speech the GOP nominee will deliver on Monday in Youngstown, Ohio, Trump will argue that the U.S. needs to work with anyone that shares that mission, regardless of other ideological and strategic disagreements – presumably meaning Russian Federation.

In a speech in OH, the candidate outlined his plans to combat Islamic extremism, including a new screening test for arrivals to the US. “We will partner with King Abdullah of Jordan and the president of Egypt, President Sisi, and all others who recognise this ideology of death that must be extinguished”, Trump said.

“We should only admit into this country those who share our values and respect our people”, he said.

He also said Israel would be key in an alliance to face down the spread of radical Islam.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign released the following statement on Trump’s stop in Youngstown and the press conference called by the OH leaders.

“Hillary Clinton wants to be America’s Angela Merkel and you know what a disaster this massive immigration has been to Germany and the people of Germany”, Trump said.

Trump characterized this plan in July as an expansion of his proposal last December to block all Muslims from entering the U.S.

He has struggled to stay on message and build a consistent case against Democrat Hillary Clinton, repeatedly causing problems for the White House race with provocative comments that have deeply frustrated many in his own party.

Trump called the rise of ISIS the “direct result” of policies initiated by President Barack Obama and Clinton, his former secretary of state.

Trump is expected to announce he’ll formally declare an end to nation-building and regime change overseas.

Mahoning County’s Republican Party Chairman tells The Vindicator in Youngstown that numerous county’s 21,000 newly registered Republicans are excited by Trump’s candidacy.

“This so-called “policy” can not be taken seriously”, the Clinton campaign said.
