He’ll oversee baseball operations before transitioning into an advisory role. Attanasio plans to start asking for permission to interview candidates this week through the house owners assembly in Chicago, the staff stated.

Owner Mark Attanasio said the search for a new general manager will begin immediately.
We’re trying to be ahead of the rumors and speculation.
According to the Milwaukee Brewers website, Melvin joined the Brewers on September 26, 2002 as the eighth general manager in franchise history.
During Melvin’s 13-year tenure, the Brewers reached the playoffs twice (2008, 2011) and finished under. The players he shipped to Kansas City formed the nucleus for the Royals’ World Series run a year ago and are key contributors to their best in the AL record this season. 500 seven times. This season has been a disappointment. “But I guess over the last year I was up there, it felt he was close to the end of being the general manager”, Counsell said. He navigated the Brewers through their highly successful 2015 draft, and if the Brewers don’t name him their General Manager, it is likely only a matter of time before another organization does.
“Doug is a resource for our franchise in what is becoming an increasingly complex industry“, Attanasio said.
But maybe we, the fans who support you so generously, wanted to see the great players we’ve come to know and love finish this season and get the team as far as it could have gone yet this year. “It’s just changed”. They sent off Carlos Gomez, Aramis Ramirez and Gerardo Parra.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell already has a job and isn’t interested in a new one anytime soon. He was among the longest-tenured GMs in baseball, behind Brian Sabean of the San Francisco Giants (19 years), Billy Beane of the Oakland Athletics (18 years) and Brian Cashman of the New York Yankees (17 years). The righty from Canada was 16-4 with a 3.87 ERA over 55 appearances at the Double-A level. After pitching 520.0 innings, Melvin decided to retire and give up on the hope of making to the Majors.
