Middlesbrough defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the City Ground in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

All told, Boro have won just once at the City Ground in their last 21 visits, but at least head to Nottingham in good heart after back-to-back home wins against MK Dons and Brentford, with Aitor Karanka’s side chasing a fifth successive win in all competitions this lunchtime.

Following the match, midfielder Clayton took to Twitter to revel in the triumph, with goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, who saved a penalty from Henri Lansbury, also expressing his joy on the social networking site.

The Reds were unfortunate not to claim at least a point from an entertaining game, after seeing Konstantopoulos make a quartet of saves to deny Ryan Mendes and Eric Lichaj twice, before then performing heroics to deny Forest’s skipper from the spot.

He was on hand again in the 24th minute when he produced an excellent double save, goal scorer Nugent was up first when he hit a powerful effort towards goal which De Vries managed to palm away to the feet of Albert Adomah but he was on hand again to save his effort with his feet.

“I hope so because last season it wasn’t enough”, he said. They know about each other’s qualities, they play as a team.

“We were playing against the side I believe will be the champions”, he said.

The home side now sit ninth in the table, with just a single point separating them from the top six.

“Middlesbrough have been together, as a team and with their manager, for two or three years. They are very important for us – when the players see the fans all around the stadium they will feel more confidence”, He said to Forest Player HD. That is how to be successful side. But this was at the beginning of the game and we had discussed, an hour before the game, Forest’s movement.

“We have played attractive, attacking football, Henri Lansbury was fantastic in the centre of the park, just as he has been for the last three games”.

“I have the mindset that you need a squad in this division”.
