PSV caused one of the biggest shocks of this season’s competition by beating Manchester United 2-1 at home on matchday one.
However, PSV responded impressively in the second half, Maxime Lestienne bagging two goals in quick succession to raise the possibility of an unlikely comeback.
Two thunderous tackles by Mário Fernandes set the tone for the Russian side and they deservedly took the lead after seven minutes when Zoran Tošić’s right-wing corner fell invitingly for Musa to stab in.
His inch-perfect cross picked out Doumbia, who headed past PSV keeper Jeroen Zoet.
A strike from Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa and a brace by Ivory Coast sharp-shooter Seydou Doumbia set CSKA on their way to a narrow victory that put them equal on three points with the other three teams in their group.
Doumbia could have completed a hat trick in the Group B match but missed another penalty shortly before halftime.
After the match, Cocu was left to bemoan his side’s start to the game, although he did praise the team’s response in the second half as they went in search of an equalising goal.

Today’s match showed once again that all teams have to fight until the final whistle in the UEFA Champions League.
“But in the second half everything went a bit astray and we had a nervous ending due to our own slackness”. After the break we had four or five chances to score and even level things up.
“With the ball in the first half it was not so bad, but defensively and in the transition, it was anything but that”.

“Of course I’m happy with the result but there’s also a certain displeasure because of our poor performance in the second period”.
