Hairspray Live is looking to the Disney Channel for its latest castings.
In 2015, Cameron and Ryan McCartan partnered up and formed the pop duo The Girl and the Dreamcatcher, combining their singing and songwriting talents.
Cameron, star of Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie, and Clayton, who appeared on Freeform’s The Fosters and ABC’s The Real O’Neals, have had experience with TV musicals, starring in the Descendants and Teen Beach Movie franchises, respectively.
Hairspray Live will be filmed in Los Angeles and will air live on Wednesday, December 7 at 8pm! So, what will happen when we see both of them on screen together? Based on the film by John Waters, it tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, an overweight Baltimore teen with dreams of landing a spot on a TV dance show and bringing racial integration with her.
In addition to Chenoweth, “Hairspray Live!” stars Harvey Fierstein, who will recreate his iconic Tony Award-winning role; Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG Award winnerJennifer Hudson; musical superstar Ariana Grande, whose new album “Dangerous Woman” debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 Chart; Tony and Emmy victor Martin Short; and Emmy victor Derek Hough.
