Downed trees caused by severe weather overnight in Branch County
At 6:21 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm over the N.C. Zoo, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

The national weather service cautions that any thunderstorms that develop will have the potential to produce torrential rainfall.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Clarke, Loudoun, Culpeper, Greene, Madison and Orange County in Virginia as well as Berkeley and Jefferson County in West Virginia until 4:45 p.m.
At 8:01 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm over Sandy Level, Va., and moving east at 15 miles per hour. Expect strong wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. The watch is in effect until 3 a.m. Friday. Wind damage is likely to roofs, siding and trees.

Torrential rainfall could also occur with the storm, which may lead to localized flooding.
