Although Larry is the first official cat to hold the title Chief Mouser, cats have occupied government buildings in London since the 1800s.

And it’s now confirmed that Britain’s Prime Minister is Theresa May.
David Cameron’s final day as Prime minister of the United Kingdom is Wednesday, as incoming Theresa May takes her place at the official London residence and office at 10 Downing Street.
Respondign to the media reports, Cameron said: “The rumour that somehow I don’t love Larry, I do”.
Cameron said he wanted to use the prime minister’s question time session to end a rumor that he was not fond of the cat, which was brought to Downing Street from an animal shelter five years ago.
Cameron has released some photoes cuddling the Chief Mouser during his stay at the official residence.
He was rehomed from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home because he was said to have a “strong predatory drive” that suggested he would be well-suited to the task of rat catching.
The cat has been at No. 10 Downing Street since 2011.
