The powerful second baseman just won’t stop hitting home runs, and he got another one in his first plate appearance Tuesday.
However, in-season context aside, the run that Dozier has taken off on since the All-Star Break has become one of the most prodigious home run tears in baseball history.

Dozier smashed a fastball from Royals right-hander Dillon Gee to left field for his 39th home run of the year, and his record 11th against the Royals.
It was the third time this season Minnesota hit three home runs in a game off Gee.

TWINS: 1B Joe Mauer was given a day to rest his strained quadriceps muscles, an injury that has lingered for the last three weeks. Dozier has seven homers over that span.

Beresford was signed by the Twins as a 16-year-old out of Australia 12 years ago and appeared in 1,070 career games in the minor leagues before finally being called up on Tuesday. Dozier’s 75 extra-base hits are 1 behind David Ortiz for the most in the majors9. He is listed as day to day. Santana will miss the remainder of the season with a Grade-2 left shoulder strain.
