Dallas police found a body Wednesday in the Trinity River in West Dallas and said it likely is that of a missing SMU officer swept away by Turtle Creek floodwaters in July.
This afternoon, an SMU officer called for assistance when he said he saw a body in uniform along the bank of the Trinity. Dallas police responded to the levee at Oak Lawn Avenue at Levee Street where the body was spotted, dallasvoice.com reported. However, the body was draped in an American flag and an impromptu procession happened as it was taken away. “I’m assuming it’s [Mark McCullers], the police officer we’re looking for, so we paid our respects”.
The body was discovered nearly three miles away from where McCullers was last seen. An SMU officer made the discovery about 2:30 p.m., Dallas police Maj.
SMU Police were also on the scene. “About a week or two ago, he came with the Texas State Guard, and they came out here with a handful of drones and they’ve been searching this entire area”.
“He’s one of us”, Vaughn said.
