Draft Biden launches first ad in 2016 presidential race

Meanwhile, Wednesday saw the airing of an advertisement, released by Draft Biden, a super PAC encouraging Vice President Joe Biden to run for president.

A soundbite followed of Draft Biden advisor Josh Alcorn gushing: “When Joe Biden sees this ad I hope he understands that there’s millions of Americans who are eager to see him enter the presidential race”.

The ad, titled “Redemption”, shows Biden’s career in Washington, starting with a December 1972 vehicle crash that killed his wife and daughter and left his sons badly injured and hospitalized for months.

Reports emerged this week that Biden himself leaked the information about that conversation with Beau, which critics say points to a calculated political rationale for revealing the tender moment.

The spot ends with a two-word message: “Joe, run”.

As the Draft Biden ad began to run, Alexander declared: “All that’s missing is the candidate”. The Wall Street Journal reported that Biden’s recent schedule “looks a lot like that of a presidential candidate”.

To wit: Politico“s Mike Allen published a genuinely hilarious report Monday marketed as containing two pieces of in-demand information: that Biden is expected to make a decision on his candidacy this weekend and that he is supposedly leaning toward entering”.

Biden gave that commencement address just days before his son, Beau, died of brain cancer.

“The vice president appreciates that they are trying to help”, the person close to Biden said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss his deliberations.

“The bottom line on the Politico story is that it is categorically false and the characterization is offensive”, said a Biden official on condition of anonymity.

As vice president, Biden has won plaudits from unions for championing middle-class issues like higher wages.

One longtime Biden associate, who months ago thought the vice president could afford to sit out a few of the first nominating contests if needed, said he has become less sure. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, is running an insurgent campaign and Biden, who served in the Senate for 36 years, is contemplating a run, most of the 46 members of the Democratic Caucus either publicly or privately back Clinton. “Elizabeth Warren on Saturday in his residence at the Naval Observatory, CNN has learned, another sign he is seriously deciding whether to jump into the Democratic presidential race”.

“Things can change in a heartbeat”, Biden says.

The Democratic fundraising function is often held in February or March in other states, but Iowa traditionally holds its event early to raise money for its caucus, on February 1 in 2016.
