An openly gay man, David Gaider developed Dorian, the first “fully gay” male character in a BioWare history. He joined the company in 2000 and is credited with contributing to everything from Baldur’s Gate II through Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic and the Dragon Age games.
Gaider began his career in 1999. He also wrote Dragon Age: The Silent Grove, a companion comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics.
“It was indeed my decision, not one made easily since BioWare’s been very good to me, and the parting is amicable”, he wrote.
Gaider will be remembered for his lead role in creating the original Dragon Age world for BioWare, and numerous stories – including spin-off novels – within it.

Former Dragon Age Lead Writer David Gaider has announced that he has left BioWare. What do you think this means for the existence or production of BioWare’s secret new title?
