Thanks to the just released More Life album from Drake, Apple Music set a record for the most streams over a 24-hour period.
A large chunk of those streams – about 20 per cent, according to Forbes, are from his most recent album Views, which is less than a year old.
More Life is streaming on Apple Music now, and you can also cop it on iTunes. It was streamed over 61.3 million times during its first day on Spotify, surpassing Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” for day-one streams. However, it could also be argued that any publicity is good publicity and undoubtedly, “More Life” will bring the genre to more ears. Eight days later, the final product hit the web, and it’s potentially the artist’s most cohesive project to date.
Immediately following, More Life was available on competing streaming sites but commercially windowed on iTunes for an unspecified period expected to be no longer than two weeks.
The 22-track playlist had a gamut of features from well-known artists like Kanye West, 2 Chainz and Sampha, to newcomers like Jorga Smith and Snoh Aalegra. But sung over one of More Life’s most colorful samples, listening to the rapper mull over his trust issues finally sounds fun again.
If your vantage is atop the hemisphere’s tallest free-standing structure – like Drake’s – and you’ve established yourself as the most-heard artist in the world – like Drake – what comes next? There are different moods and instead of being a straight jump, the interludes ease you onto the next part and let the listener know the vibe is about to change. And based on what he has already spent four releases divulging, how much more to his life is there?

Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill is escaping diehard Drake fan trolling with some healthy sunshine. It seems nearly as if West is emulating Drake’s reflective style only with a more positive outlook.
