Warriors All-Star Draymond Green has agreed to a plea deal that reduces his charges for allegedly slapping a Michigan State football player and allows him to avoid jail time.

“Definitely happy”, Green said following Team USA’s 111-74 win over Argentina.

Green was accused of striking a Michigan State football player in the face on July 10 outside a restaurant near campus. A ruling won’t likely come before the 2016 summer Olympic Games where Green will compete with the USA men’s basketball team for a chance at a third straight gold medal.

“The plea agreement reached with Mr Green is in accordance with our normal plea bargain procedures and guidelines for a case with similar circumstances, evidence and witness statements”, Meyers said. It was reduced to a noise violation.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the Warriors’ star will pay a $500 fine and $60 restitution fee.

Assistant city prosecutor David Meyers told the State Journal the deal involves neither a guilty nor a no-contest plea, since the infraction is not a criminal charge.

“I signed up for this, whether it was blown out of proportion or not”, Green said. “I just can’t put myself in position where something can be blown out”.
